John James Needles - Chenille Needles.  

Chenille sewing needles are large eye needles and are identical to a Tapestry or a Cross Stitch Needle in length and in diameter.

However, the Chenille point is sharp, rather than round and blunt and is used in the art of crewel embroidery and ribbon embroidery.

Originally they were used for chenille work, hence the name.  

We offer Chenille needles in a number of Pack varieties:-

Pack containing assorted sizes ranging from size 18 to size 24. (6 needles)

Size 18  -- 48.5 mm length x 1.27 mm diameter
Size 20  -- 44.0 mm length x 1.09 mm diameter
Size 22  -- 40.5 mm length x 0.94 mm diameter    
Size 24  -- 37.0 mm length x 0.76 mm diameter

Pack containing size 26 (6 needles)

Size 26  -- 34 mm length x 0.61 mm diameter 

Pack containing size 20 (6 needles)

Size 20  -- 44 mm length x 1.09 mm diameter 

Pack containing size 16 (5 needles)

Size 16  -- 52.5 mm length x 1.63 mm diameter

Pack containing size 14 (2 needles)

Size 14  -- 58.0 mm length x 2.03 mm diameter

These larger sizes are more used for course or heavy fabrics. These finer sizes are also used in ribbon embroidery and embroidering with Perlé threads.
